Mark Cuban

Enthrall, Enthuse, Excite, and Encourage:

Perspectives on Life and Work from Mark Cuban
Entrepreneur & Co-Founder of Cost Plus Drugs, USA

Marc CubanMark Cuban has been called a “self-made man.” What part of his success does he attribute to self-motivation? At AiM23, he will provide insight into what he believes are the ingredients of success and the characteristics of those who persist, even in the face of adversity. Mr. Cuban will talk about his experience in the fields of technology, sports, education and the arts, with a focus on the motivation and personal decision-making that has been so successful for him.

Mark Cubans’ life mirrors The American Dream, a.k.a., “from rags to riches.” Except that his is a case of “from bags to riches” – he had his first success at age 12 selling garbage bags from door to door. After graduation from Indiana University, he moved to Dallas, Texas, where he created the computer consulting service MicroSolutions, later sold to CompuServe. An internet-based audio streaming solution that he and a friend founded was bought by Yahoo. After he acquired the Dallas Mavericks, the team (including Dirk Nowitzki) won their first ever NBA title. In short: Mr. Cuban's success is not only monetary.
Today he owns over 100 companies, including the Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company, which is currently transforming the prescription drug market, making medicine affordable, and bringing transparency and fairness to the industry. Whether his appearances as a “Shark” on the television show Shark Tank, his work as a book author, as an Academy Award winning producer, a business fraud sleuth or a donor to community activities and education, Mark continues to expand his interests and fields of influence and to – literally – leave his mark on history.
